My ride report
There is lots of torque early, snappy response to throttle input, runs strong to
about 7.5-8k then shows the HP falling off ever so slightly. Still bounces off the rev
limiter just fine. In the tight technical stuff it continues to work well, easy to loft over
roots, and rocks. I stalled once mid trail, re-fired with a touch of the
button. I got it hot and sweaty (burping into the overflow tank) and
worked it hard. I needed a break from working this "large woods weapon" through the trails so I shut it down for me to take a drink of water and take a breather
. It fired right back up after 10 minutes of sitting, rode out the rest of the trail and jumped back on to the service road, then to the tarmac to get back to work.
On average I think that this is WAY better than the stock setup. The
3-4k surge/soft spot is gone. So is the bog/cough if lurking below 2.5k
in a high gear then call for max power. Can we make maximum power
higher? yes. Can we open it up and go to the drag races? sure.
However, I will take the increased torque earlier and wider RPM range
rather than +2-3 PEAK HP. I will take the improved ride-ability over
maximum speed capability. All the while it gets 38-41 MPG (unladen/no
bags).
